The Formula For University
University is a very tricky phase in every student’s life which is why I wanted to dedicate a post to the ins and outs of being successful at university.
Go to all your lectures. I know this may seem impossible but the more lectures you miss, the harder it will be to catch up. Believe me when I say that I know this from first hand experience. Missing a lecture and asking for your friend’s notes may seem like a good resolution but I can guarantee that their notes will not help in the way you would like them to. If the lecture is recorded, don’t think of this as an excuse to miss your lectures because chances are that you will never watch those recordings and even if you do, some information may not be visible.
It is very easy to relax and to procrastinate from doing work when you are at university. It is the first time in your life where your revision is managed by you and it doesn’t take long to get far behind everyone else. Look to make a revision schedule and stick to it. Going to societies is all well but ensure that you leave enough time for revision also.
If you want to prepare before even going to university, then I commend you! You need to ensure that the university you want to go to is the right university. You also need to think about life after university. You need to be prepared to get a job so utilise career fairs and make sure that you ask as many questions as you can.
Be smart when going about your revision. Think about when your exams are and think about the weight of each module. You need to be very efficient when it comes to revising for a degree because you will have many modules and so you need to be on top of your workload for all these different modules.
