Why You Shouldn’t Plagiarize

Plagiarism is something that we’ve all probably been tempted to do in one way or another. We should never plagiarize because there are many bad habits which can come when copying work from the internet or even from someone else.
If you plagiarize, you will not learn that content. When you copy work, you do not learn what it is you are copying whereas if you did the work yourself, then you would learn a whole lot more. So if you’re the type of person who likes to copy work off others, then stop this now because when you have to be independent in the future, you will struggle a lot.
Plagiarism also shows a lack of confidence and it demonstrates the fact that you do not feel you are equipped with the knowledge to do well in that particular subject. So you cheat to make yourself feel better and to look like you know the work on paper when in reality you don’t. You need confidence in your own abilities to do well in life so start this practice from early and be confident when approaching any sort of work. If you do bad, then you can learn a lot of lessons from this knowing that it was all done by yourself. Always do the work yourself because it is only then where you know how well or how bad you are doing. Then you can have an action plan as to how be the most efficient you can possibly be.
Plagiarism also shows poor time management skills and it proves that you cannot work to meet deadlines. If you need to plagiarize to complete work on time, then this shows that you cannot meet deadlines. In the real world, you will be tasked with so much work and you will have to meet deadlines on a daily basis so if you cheat from young, then you are only putting yourself under more duress in the future. Work hard from the beginning so this mindset transitions into the real world also.
The obvious reason why you shouldn’t plagiarize is because, by doing so, you are promoting cheating and that is something which you should never do. Cheating is something I despise and you should always endeavour to complete your own work. Why steal someone else’s work and pass it off as your own? Again, this will come back to haunt you in the future so just stay away from cheating and you will be content with the results you get back for any work that you complete.
Very true, Plagiarism gets you nowhere!
You’re only cheating yourself
Yea
👌👌
Appreciate it
Very decent advice for the students…
But you could cheer them up by saying…
“It’s only while going through your education” .
At least it is so, if one should choose to believe the words of T. S. Eliot, who once said that “good writers borrow, great writers steal.”
Sorry Kamran…
Just couldn’t resist sharing this anecdote, and hope that it puts a smile on a face or two. 🙂
Great spin to put on it haha 😂
“The only person you cheat is yourself.”
Yep exactly that
So true, well written as always Kamran and a good explanation on the “why”
I appreciate it Prashanti 🤗🤗
Plagiarism is something that we’ve all probably been tempted to do in one way or another.
True but if people learn to use their own initiative when it comes to tasks and deadlines, then this will be better in the future
So true! Original content is what readers want to read!!
Oh most definitely and it is the best kind of content!
True that!!
😊🤗
♧ Seems that Critics of “plagiarism” “plagiarise” those who Criticise “plagiarism” without acknowledgement of The Source of Their Knowledge on Condemning and Criticising “plagiarism”; how ironic is that 🤔 ? 😆😅😄😃😂😁😀😉😊
…♧♧♧…
Ya you are right by the way I loved the way of your writing very nice…. 😊😊
Thank you very much 😊

Important advice. Elaborating on your last paragraph… all through university, and especially as a graduate student, it was constantly reiterated that plagiarism was simply a form of dishonesty, theft, and/or “cheating”, and as such was grounds for anything from being dropped from a class to expulsion from the school. Research writing classes always emphasized the importance of giving credit, not only for others’ words, but also for others’ ideas. And as a graduate student, that becomes an integral part of thesis or dissertation work, since you’re being increasingly evaluated on your own ideas. So indeed, plagiarism does come back to haunt you!
Yeah using other people’s ideas as motivation and paraphrasing is one thing and is completely acceptable but full on copying and not giving any thought process of your own is not
Plagiarism in the form of academic dishonesty happens rapidly. Our students cheat, our teachers use or even copy other’s works.
Yeah, it’s something which needs to be stopped
Plagiarism reflects desperation because you have not learned the material and is a continuing problem in education. I spent a lifetime of teaching trying to combat it.
Yeah it does. It is a really bad trait and shortcuts in general should not be used in education but it is widely used.
